Youth Democracy Award

The Youth Democracy Award is a youth project of the Federal Agency for Civic Education. Once a year, the Award honours young people for their commitment, who with their projects work for democracy in an outstanding way. The Youth Democracy Prize is a tribute by young people for young people, as the decisions are taken by a youth jury.

The youth jury consists of young people between 16 and 26 years of age who are politically committed and active on a voluntary basis. They are mainly pupils of different types of schools and students of different subjects. The jury consists partly of Young EU Professionals and members of teamGLOBAL (these are networks of young people who share their knowledge of globalisation or Europe with other young people). In addition, young people are involved in various other projects.

The Youth Democracy Prize is awarded under a different theme every year. Thematically, the focus is on current, politically relevant developments in Europe. Further competitions are available.

More information on the award is available in German.
