IUVENTA – Slovak Youth Institute

IUVENTA – Slovak Youth Institute deals with the issue of violent extremism, radicalization of youth and human rights education as one of its priorities in accordance with the Concept for Youth Work for 2014 – 2020. They provided an extensive research and issued a document: Causes of youth radicalization aged 14 to 17. The main findings of the qualitative research (December 2017 – January 2018).

• Problems identified:
  Negative attitudes of young people towards minorities – in particular to the Roma in Slovakia and to migrants from Europe
• Solutions applied:
  Research, interviews, focus groups.
• Results achieved:
  Identified radicalisation factors: family background, frustration from the social and political system in Slovakia, regional and social disparities
